| Montana Scheff and Ryan Knoke established an historic walking tour of Park Avenue several years ago. They were among the neighbors who cared for 3724 when she was vacant and included her on the tour. Ryan just sent me these images from the tour of people in period costume IN MY LIVINGROOM! |
There is something about her. You step into the foyer and the "restoration goggles" (a distant cousin of delusive "beer googles") seat themselves firmly on your nose. Suddenly, the peeling wallpaper, burst pipes, exposed lathe over cracked and fallen plaster recede into the background and all you note is the amazing woodwork, fireplace, cove ceilings and elegant fixtures...just like magic.

What's going on in my livingroom?

There are more photos of the Victorian Ladies and Gentleman where this came from. I think Gary Anderson took them, so we'll get them from him for posting. They are super cool staged shots. We actually set up the settee and chair in front of the fireplace and some of the ladies are sitting, some are standing, one is leaning against the fireplace mantle, etc. I think we may have even given one woman an antique book (that we had up on the fireplace mantle for staging the house) to get a shot of her "reading" in front of the fireplace. Super fun! (and crazy to think that this is how people looked sitting in your parlor around your fireplace 114 years ago!)
