This room was never meant to be a kitchen. It has a lovely view of the back yard's two giant 100 year old Cottonwood trees and both the late afternoon sun and the warm pine flooring made it glow.
The north east corner of the room had an old farm sink. Ryan Knoke and I took some measurements one day and feel certain that this is original sink for the kitchen on the first floor.
The corner walls had some sort of linoleum tile on them of the most brilliant blue! We lost a bit of the wall when it came off.
The wallpaper was only a couple of layers thick in this room and the plaster is actually in pretty good shape other than where we removed fixtures.
The restoration goggles are in full swing here. This wabi sabi layering of paint, paper and cracked plaster was gorgeous to me.
The floor was covered in green carpeting
(perfect for a kitchen) with linoleum tile under that.
Both came up fairly easily. Then it was wallpaper removal time.
The view from this West facing window is really lovely.
The kitchen cabinets in the south west corner had a tile counter top and backsplash...with really tough adhesive.
The wallpaper hidden beneath it was cute though.
Lost a little more plaster, but the wallpaper and popcorn ceilings are gone!
The wallpaper in this house is amazing.
