We decided we needed to start somewhere and the North bedroom looked pretty easy...I mean how many layers of wallpaper and paint could there be?? There was a very poorly constructed closet in the corner that looked like we could demo by blowing it over "Big Bad Wolf" style and the painters tape blue wall color cried desperately to be removed. So here goes!
I wasn't kidding about the paint color.
Child labor was still around when this house was built so...I am kidding about this. This was the last time the girls were allowed to peek.
One, two, three, four, five layers of wallpaper!
Thanks a million to my dear friend Grant for loaning us the industrial wallpaper steamer!
We used the method of drilling holes along the lathe around loose but reparable plaster and inserting adhesive to reattach and staiblize it.
The stabilizing, rough coating and popcorn ceiling removal are done. We need to skim coat, sand, prime and paint yet, but I can almost see it!
From neon, yeowzer blue to ???? What is Aine pondering for her room? She is an amazing artist--truly---I'm saving all the doodlely drawings she's done while sitting in the back seat of my car. They're amazing! Some are humorous, some are a vivid portrayal..for example, a GREAT baby, some are slip-stream impressions. Can't wait to see what she comes up with in her new ---all her own---room.
